Environmental Responsibility
Environmental responsibility is at the core of Red Helix’s values and operations. We are unwavering in our commitment of sustainable practices and recognise the importance of preserving the planet for future generations.
That is why our goal is to decrease our emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero-emissions by 2050 or earlier. Achieving net-zero emissions requires a comprehensive strategy with a focus on energy efficiency, zero-carbon energy, and sustainable supply chain practices.
Energy efficiency is a key part of reducing our environmental impact. Automated scheduling has been implemented across internal equipment to minimise baseline energy usage, aligning with employees’ hybrid working patterns for greater efficiency. Additionally, all lighting within facilities is sensor-operated and utilises LED technology, ensuring optimal energy conservation while eliminating unnecessary consumption.
Since 2024, 100% zero-carbon electricity has been sourced, ensuring our indirect emissions from purchased energy remain at 0 kg CO₂e. Our next step is to reduce emissions from owned or controlled sources by optimising natural gas consumption and transitioning to zero-carbon alternatives.
We prioritise working with suppliers who uphold ethical and environmentally responsible practices. This includes sustainable resource management, fair labour conditions, and eco-friendly production methods. We are currently collaborating with our suppliers to explore the adoption of electric vehicles for our deliveries.
Social Impact and Community Engagement
Our goal is to cultivate a workplace that is inclusive, and supportive, where employees feel valued, engaged, and empowered to succeed. Through community initiatives, volunteering opportunities, and a strong commitment to employee wellbeing, we strive to create a positive and enriching environment for employees. By nurturing a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous growth, enhancing our team’s experience and making a meaningful impact on our wider community.
We run an innovative afterschool program at a local school in our community, designed to introduce children to real-world application of STEM subjects before they go to secondary school.
Every employee receives two days a year to volunteer for a charity of their choice. Many employees choose to volunteer together, viewing it as a valuable opportunity to bond with the wider team. Last year our staff supported and volunteered at Action4Youth, Camp Mohawk, The Cyber Helpline and more.
Employee wellbeing is a key priority, reflected by our dedicated wellbeing space, mental health first-aiders, Employee Assistance Programme, open door policy and our employee forum.
