As cyber threats grow in volume and sophistication, safeguarding an organisation has become an increasingly complex task. In today’s digital landscape, a single layer of protection is no longer sufficient. To ensure the security of your business, you need a holistic, multi-layered cyber security strategy.

Let’s start with the first layer: End User protection. This is your first line of defence, built up from the behaviour of your staff, individual devices, and authentication protocols. The key components of this layer include Security Awareness Training and Testing, Endpoint Detection and Response (also known as EDR), Email Malware Filtering, Spoofing Protection, and Access Management. End User protection ensures a user-level defence against social engineering attacks, unauthorized access, malware, and identity spoofing. It’s about empowering your employees with the knowledge and tools they need to stay vigilant.

Moving on to the second layer: Cloud and Application security. This is the operational hub where data is stored and applications are hosted. The key components here include Cloud Security and Visibility, and Security Information & Event Management (shortened to SIEM). Cloud and Application security defends against both external threats and internal vulnerabilities. Feeding your IT and security logs to a SIEM tool allows you to detect, consolidate and respond to incidents as they happen.

Finally, we have the third layer: Network security. This is the bridge over which data is transferred, connecting end users with applications. The components of Network security include Network Detection and Response (often shortened to NDR), Security Infrastructure Testing, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). Network security shields data during its transmission and maintains continuous vigilance against potential intrusion and vulnerabilities within the network. It’s the walls of your digital fortress. These measures and security solutions serve as a foundation to keep your business safe from cyber threats. Each layer complements the others and collectively they provide strength and security for your business. For further support and expert advice, Red Helix can evaluate your existing security measures and guide you in adopting the strategies and solutions that will offer your company the protection it needs.
